Visual Records Conducts Professional Development Seminar at ITT Institute (15-Aug-2007)

At the request of Tori Bailey, Program Chair of Health Information Technology, at ITT Technical Institute, the Visual Records team traveled to their Sylmar location on August 14 to give a professional development seminar. The seminar was conducted by Bob Baddorf, CEO, John Schaffer, Product Manager and Rebecca Phan, Communications & Marketing Specialist. The agenda for the seminar revolved around the "ins" and "outs" of commercial software products, which is Visual Records' specialty. The seminar was attended by several other program chairs from Information Technology, Multimedia / Gaming as well as ITT instructors from Computer Electronics Engineering, Business Administration, Drafting / Design and Health Information Technology.

The seminar began with an overview of commercial software products and moved onto issues surrounding the products. Next, demonstrations were given of several of Visual Records' software products: Storm Tracker (debris management software), Traveler (travel advisory software) and MedCorr (release of information software). To promote teamwork, the group was divided into four teams and given a database design exercise, where each team had to design a database for a student grade tracking system. To conclude the seminar, the topic of software games (another type of commercial software product) was addressed, and how ITT could use these popular products as teaching tools. Demonstrations were given of one of the newer game consoles (Wii) as well as hand-held gaming systems (PSP and Nintendo DS-Lite) on the market today. When asked about the seminar, Tori Bailey said, "It is refreshing to have created such a great working relationship with a company such as Visual Records, a company who has flexibility and adaptability to work with Health Information Technology (HIT) programs & provide excellence with such focused integrated Information Technology (IT) systems software. I would like to publicly thank them for their assistance with the enthusiasm they bring to our campus(es)."
